Farul Constanța

Produs al Centrului de copii și juniori al Farului Constanța, Gheorghe Hagi a fost descoperit de antrenorul Iosif Bukkosi. La vârsta de 12 ani a câștigat primul trofeu din carieră, ‘’Cupa Speranțelor’’ (6 septembrie 1977), competiție unde a fost desemnat și cel mai bun jucător. Datorită calităților sale excelente, este promovat de antrenorul Constantin Mareș la formația de juniori republicani (18 ani), deși Gheorghe Hagi avea în acel moment numai 14 ani. La 17 ani, 7 luni și 7 zile debutează în Divizia A de antrenorul Emanoil Hașoti într-o partidă cu SC Bacău (11.09.1982). Chiar în anul debutului său la Farul, este desemnat cel mai bun tânăr jucător din România !
